August 2014 Update

L’viv Trip for Foster Home Children

This trip has now been finalised and the kids are really looking forward to it. I would like to say a huge thank you to telecommunications company Kyivstar for assisting in the funding of the trip to L’viv, and especially to Peter, Larisa, Tatiana, Irina, Natalya and Mikhail. A huge thank you for the time and effort that they’ve all put in helping to organise the itinery and events for the children in L’viv.

I would also like to say a huge thank you to Slavutich, Carlsberg Ukraine, for their continued support, and the logistical assistance that they provide the charity in Ukraine. Special thanks to Svetlana and Yulia for their personal assistance and support.

The children will be spending 3 full days in Lviv and we have some excellent excursions lined up for them during this time. There’s a trip to the fantastic L’viv Arena (purpose built EURO 2012 stadium) lined up on the first day, followed by a trip to the Viking Bay adventure park. The second day will see the kids exploring the city of Lviv and visiting many of the attractions and museums in the city. The third day sees the kids heading out of the city towards the beautiful Carpathian Mountains and a tour of the interesting Rocks of Dovbush, formed millions of years ago but carved into them by man more recently.

There is even a little bit of time to tour one of the Lviv parks on the morning of the fourth day, before getting the train back to Dnipropetrovsk. Expect lots more photos in the October update.

Charity-Dinner-2014

Dnipro Appeal Charity Dinner 2014

Tables are going fast for this years event, which will not disappoint! The evening will be hosted by Radio Forth DJ and TV Personality Grant Stott, and speaking at the event will be former WBO Super Featherweight Alex Arthur. Also attending will be management and playing staff (both past and present) from Hibernian FC.

With the drinks reception, Stotty’s banter, guest speaking, some astounding table magic from Ryan Davidson and music late into the night it is shaping up to be a fantastic night .. and not one to be missed.

Of course the main purpose of the night is to raise some money for Dnipro Kids charity and we’ve been gifted some magnificent “one-off” auction prizes for the night. We are still looking for some nice auction prizes though, so if you are able to donate anything at all towards the evening then please get in touch …. steven@dniprokids.com or jackie@dniprokids.com

Sponsors Fundraising

Andrew and Emma Sibley

I would like to offer congratulations and a huge thank you, on behalf of Dnipro Kids, to sponsors Andrew and Emma Sibley after they “tied the knot” on August the 2nd. Instead of gifts for their wedding day they asked their guests to instead make donations via the Just Giving web page they’d set up. www.justgiving.com/AndrewEmma1875  And on top of a great day they also raised over £1,000 for Dnipro Kids.

Many thanks, and congratulations to you both.

Sean Pollock and Scottish Enterprise

I would like to say a huge thank you to Hibs supporter Sean Pollock for nominating Dnipro Kids as the charity of choice for the Scottish Enterprise’s first organised staff football tournament at Glasgow Green. It’s hoped to make this the first of many for the staff, and the turnout on a sunny day in June on Glasgow Green will certainly help in cementing it as an annual event.

Sean tells us .. “12 teams entered the tournament and it was a great success, eventually being won by “Inter Milan In Everything We Do” (don’t worry, it went over my head as well). The staff from Scotland’s big economic development agency raised £316 for Dnipro Kids which was great news for everyone involved as we knew this money was going to a great cause. Everyone at Scottish Enterprise thoroughly enjoyed the tournament and hope that the money raised really benefits those who need it in Dnipropetrovsk. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by the violence in Ukraine at this time.”

A huge thank you to Sean for nominating Dnipro Kids, and to all of the staff at Scottish Enterprise for the generous donation.
